This Vegan Coconut Rum Cocktail is the perfect warm holiday party drink recipe for entertaining, or for cuddling up around a fire on a chilly winter night!
I love a good cocktail. They can really make or break a holiday party, and it’s probably the first thing I look for when I arrive at a holiday soiree (okay so maybe after hugging the host). With winter basically here (NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT), one of the things I look forward to after a long day is cuddling up on the couch with big mug of my vegan coconut rum cocktail.
Why This Recipe Works
I mean what better way to warm up than with a boozy drink? Whether you need the strength to shovel that driveway or your hosting a holiday party, my vegan cozy coconut rum cocktail is perfect for any occasion. Here’s why it’s such a winner:
- Lower in sugar
- Cozy and warming
- Ready in less than 10 minutes
Key Ingredients
Almond coconut milk. I chose an almond flavoured coconut milk, but regular coconut milk works just fine. For this recipe I recommend choosing coconut milk in a carton over the canned options.
Cocoa powder. Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting and flavour.
Spiced rum. You can’t make a coconut rum cocktail without rum! If you want a mocktail, there’s always the option of leaving it out.
Toppings. We’re loading these babies up with vegan coconut whip, toasted coconut chips and a dusting of cinnamon. Of course, toppings are totally up to you!
How To Make This Recipe
This vegan cocktail starts by warming up some almond coconut milk for the base, and stirring it with cocoa powder and a little cinnamon. Once it’s steamy and well combined, I give it a good hit with spiced rum off the heat. Hey, you don’t wanna lose any of that boozy effect.
Finally, I top my vegan coconut rum cocktail off with a generous swirl of coconut whipped cream, some toasted coconut chips and a healthy dash of cinnamon for good measure.
Expert Tips
I recommend using a small whisk while warming the spices and milk. This ensures the milk heats evenly and the spices don’t clump at the top.
